West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said:
“Queues at the pumps, police closing petrol stations, petrol shortages, prices rocketing and one person suffering 40% burns are all connected to the Conservative-led government’s shambolic mishandling of the whole situation. It is clear now they saw an opportunity for cheap party political point scoring and it has massively backfired. They should be ashamed of both their actions and their intentions.
“Whilst David Cameron created this crisis, it is ordinary people in places like West Lancashire who have had live with the consequences. People are struggling to get petrol so that they can get to work and then they are having to pay over the odds to the already wealthy oil companies.
“On the hour every hour there have been different messages from different government ministers all blaming each other for giving out the wrong information. Yet they all missed the most important fact which was that no date for a strike has been set and that negotiations continue.”
“This whole mess raises serious questions about the David Cameron’s judgement, his ability to handle difficult situations, or to show any real leadership when needed.
“All I can say is that this has been a disgraceful shambles which has caused an unnecessary crisis!”
