Working hard for the people of West Lancashire

03/05/07 Finally light goes out after 3 months

A street light in Birch Green has been burning away night and day since Christmas. Rosie was told of this last week and has got Lancashire County Council to fix the faulty light so that it only comes on when it goes dark.

After being contacted by Birch Green residents, Mr and Mrs Woodthorpe, Rosie went to see for herself the large light located on a roundabout opposite Woodland Community School.

Rosie said:

“It is amazing that a light of this size on all day every day has gone unnoticed by the authorities since Christmas. This has been a disgraceful waste of money and energy.”

“I’m grateful that local residents brought it to my attention. I contacted Lancashire County Council to get the problem sorted. I will be investigating further systems to prevent future wastage.”

“If local residents know of any faulty street lights, either they are on all day or fail to come on at night, then they should let me know and we get the problem resolved.”
