Working hard for the people of West Lancashire

03/05/07 MP Rosie comments on Jackson Lloyd

Rosie said:

“Government strongly supports apprenticeship schemes as a vital resource for the construction industry for the future. By next year the number of completed apprenticeships will have risen by three-quarters. Government has doubled funding in the last four years to £1086 million.”

“Sadly in this case because of the delayed start dates for new contracts the company tell me they have had to temporarily lay off these apprentices. I will work with the apprentices, the company, the trade unions, Connexions and JobCentre Plus to ensure the apprentices get back to work as quickly as possible. It is good news that their day courses at college will not be disrupted and they will continue to work towards gaining their qualifications to become our construction workers for the future.”
