West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper met with Merseytravel Chiefs in the next stage of her campaign to fight to deliver a railway station in Skelmersdale.
MP Rosie met with Merseytravel Chairman, Liam Robinson and Interim Chief Executive, Jim Barclay on Tuesday 22 August 2012 to discuss the need for delivering rail services in Skelmersdale town centre.
MP Rosie said:
“Thank you to Liam and Jim at Merseytravel for taking the time to meet with me. It was a very positive and productive meeting. It is clear that we share the same ambition when it comes to extending rail services into Skelmersdale.
“To deliver a railway station in Skelmersdale will need the backing of everyone involved, whether residents, councils and transport authorities. I’m delighted that Merseytravel who have an excellent track record of investing and delivering excellent transport services want to be involved. I very much look forward to working with them over the months and years for the benefit of Skelmersdale.”
MP Rosie spoke in a Parliamentary Debate on 12 June 2012 highlighting the need for a railway station in Skelmersdale. She has recently launched a petition calling for a railway station to be located in the town centre.
Rosie is aiming to secure as many residents signatures as possible to let the responsible authorities know how serious the residents of Skelmersdale are about the need for a railway station in the town.
