04/09/08 West Lancs MP Rosie probes flooding in Bickerstaffe

MP ROSIE Cooper is calling for action over flooding near homes in Bickerstaffe.

MP Rosie is investigating flooding on Sineacre Lane, Bickerstaffe

Residents on Sineacre Lane have experienced flooding near their homes, which appears to have been caused by water coming from a nearby field owned by Lord Derby Estates.

Rosie, MP for West Lancashire, said: “United Utilities told me that there could be a defect in a land drain or culvert that was previously draining the field.

“As a gesture of goodwill, United Utilities have agreed to clean the public sewer in the road within the next four weeks to ensure that it is running freely and at full capacity.

“I have now written to Lord Derby Estates and the Environment Agency and I am hopeful the residents will get some answers and, ultimately, action very soon.”
