West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said:
"As I have said previously, I very much support the Concourse Management's investment in their shopping centre and their efforts to provide the best possible shopping offer to their customers. Whatever the outcome of the planning application I look forward to continuing to work with the Concourse as they are a vital part of Skelmersdale's town centre.
"However, my ambitions for Skelmersdale town centre have always been greater than just a new supermarket. As residents will have seen from the St Modwen proposals there are some exciting opportunities coming in the near future. A town centre the residents of Skelmersdale deserve. I am also pushing hard for a railway station in the town centre that will benefit whole of Skelmersdale, including the Concourse Shopping Centre.
"We now await the planning committee's decision on the application by the Concourse Management and St Modwen's planning application finally coming before the committee.
“I hope this desire to invest in Skelmersdale town centre continues, perhaps someone may want to put some money into a new sports centre while their at it!”
