05/01/12 - Delight as speed is lowered on rural road

West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has welcomed Lancashire County Council’s decision to introduce a 40mph speed limit on Hall Lane, extending to Plough Lane. The road has become increasingly dangerous due to the large number of Heavy Goods Vehicles using the road as a short cut to the motorway.

For many years MP Rosie has been a campaigner of road safety across West Lancashire. In April 2010 Rosie welcomed speed limit reductions on the nearby Spa Lane and more recently, in November 2011, on Asmall Lane, Ormskirk, where the speed was also reduced to 40mph.

Speaking after the announcement MP Rosie said “I am delighted that Lancashire County Council has listened to the concerns of residents and reduced the speed limit on Hall Lane. Road safety is a major concern in our rural areas. There is an ever increasing amount of traffic on our roads making them ever more dangerous and we must continue to do all we can to improve road safety.”
