West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has welcomed the £100,000 funding commitment by the Borough Council that brings Burscough Juniors FC one step closer to leasing Abbey Lane playing fields.
Rosie has been working with the club in recent months over the long-running drainage and maintenance problems that have stopped local girls and boys from being able to play matches at the Council-run playing fields.
MP Rosie said:
“I am delighted for Burscough Juniors that this funding has been committed, bringing them one step closer to being able to take over the running of the playing fields. These local facilities have been out of use for too long under the Council’s management of them.
“I will continue to work with the club as they progress their plans to lease the playing pitches for the benefit of the hundreds of local boys and girls wanting to play football.”
Rosie has previously met with club officials and has called on West Lancashire Borough Council to meet with the club to discuss the option of them leasing the playing fields.
