Labour MP Rosie Cooper is urging all council tenants to cast their vote as part of the Housing stock transfer as there is just under a week till the ballot closes on 12 December.
Rosie Cooper MP said:
“For those people yet to vote I would urge you to take this opportunity to register your opinion. Do not leave it to other people to decide this for you because this will affect you and your family for many years to come. Stock transfer is far too important an issue for you not to get involved and use your vote.”
“I realise that some people feel confused and unsure because of the different and often contradictory messages they have been bombarded with during the campaign. I can fully appreciate just how difficult a decision on the stock transfer question must be."
“People need to decide whether their priority is a secure tenancy and democratic accountability or the promise of new kitchens sometime in the future. They should decide what is best on the basis of securing the best deal for their family and for themselves over the long-term, not simply for short term gains. A decision which once made cannot be reversed if stock transfer takes place”
“I would like to congratulate the No Campaign on a hard fought campaign over the past few months. They have made sure, against the odds that there has been an open debate on the stock transfer issue and they have presented a real alternative view against an extremely well funded Yes Campaign.”
