Rosie Cooper MP has welcomed the news that £135,000 of new Department for Transport funding will be invested on improving facilities at Ormskirk Station serving passengers to both Preston and Liverpool.
Rosie said: “Local commuters will be very pleased to hear that the Government is going to spend £135,000 on improving Ormskirk Station. Ormskirk station was successfully awarded the funding under the Department for Transport’s ‘Small Schemes Fund’ for 2008/09. The money will be spent on the refurbishment of the station including the Booking Hall, variable height ticket counters which are particularly useful for wheelchair users of the station, fully accessible toilet facilities, public announcement systems, CCTV and help points.
Ormskirk is a busy local hub station used by many people who commute to and from West Lancashire. I will continue to press for further investment in railways in this area including the Burscough Curves and a much needed railway station in Skelmersdale.”
