West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has called a top level meeting this week with LSC chiefs over their decision not to fund a £41m state-of-the-art building at Skelmersdale College.
The meeting, to be held in Parliament this Thursday, will include the Chief Executive, Chief Operating Officer and National Projects Director of the LSC, along with Jackie Fisher, Chief Executive of Newcastle College (owners of Skelmersdale College) and Steve Broomhead, Chief Executive of the North West Regional Development Agency and Chair of Skelmersdale College Board of Governors.
“The LSC has been unbelievably incompetent in their refusal to fund the promised new build at Skelmersdale College."
This is devastating news for everyone involved - Skelmersdale residents, lecturers, staff and current and future students. These new state-of-the-art facilities are also central to the regeneration of the town and I am fighting hard to secure a positive outcome on the issue.
“I will make sure that the LSC knows the level of anger locally about this. Skelmersdale should not lose out again simply because the LSC appears to be unable to do their sums!”
