West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said:
“There is an ever increasing amount of traffic on our roads making them ever more dangerous. Improving road safety measures is one of the priority issues whenever I meet headteachers from schools right across West Lancashire. The location of Pinfold Primary School on a busy main road, at a crossroads makes it very dangerous for children, parents and staff wanting to cross the road.
“For the past six years I have been calling on Lancashire County Council to improve road safety outside all our schools in West Lancashire. I now believe that they should introduce a 20mph zone around schools immediately rather than doing it piecemeal. The police have an essential role to play in terms of speed checks and enforcement. To find a solution Lancashire County Council and Lancashire Police to implement measures that will help make roads around our schools safer.
“We need to do everything we can to ensure that our children are protected.”
