This has been a long running case which started before Rosie was elected MP for West Lancashire. Since May she has received numerous letters from and on behalf of the Thanet Residents.
On this issue Rosie said:
“I fully support the Thanet Residents in their campaign. The District Council should recognise the problems the volume of traffic, noise and air pollution being caused by the Heavy Goods Vehicles as they drive past the sheltered accommodation. When I visited the residents I got to experience first hand what they have to put up with everyday. I for one would not like to put up with a business park of heavy goods vehicles as my neighbour. I am sure there is not anybody in West Lancashire who would."
"While we must encourage jobs and businesses into the area the impact on local residents’ quality of life has to be the top priority. I am not sure this has happened to the extent it should have in this case. I don’t believe the people of Thanet want to stop progress or job creation but they shouldn’t have to suffer because of it."
"Clearly the council acknowledge they didn’t get it right because at a Local Plan Inquiry they believe future development sites need to be nearer the M58. The question for me is how they put it right.”
