PRESSURE from West Lancashire’s MP has resulted in eight long-awaited residents’ parking schemes being given the go-ahead.
Rosie Cooper MP has been told by Lancashire County Council that they will be pressing ahead with schemes at:
• Bridge Street, Ormskirk
• Wolverton, Skelmersdale
• Bridge Avenue, Ormskirk
• Queen Street, Ormskirk,
• Moorgate, Ormskirk,
• South Terrace, Ormskirk,
• Aughton Street, Ormskirk
• Small Lane, Ormskirk
Rosie said: “Residents in these areas have been waiting a long time for their much-needed parking schemes. I’ve been constantly lobbying the County Council for action and am pleased that at last we are seeing some progress.
“This is good news as it begins to address the frustrating parking problems that residents have had to endure.
“Lancashire County Council are giving the go-ahead on an experimental basis. This means that the process can get underway more quickly and it would be done with a view to making them permanent.
“The County Council is hopeful that the schemes should be in place by the end of the current financial year, March 31, 2009. I will continue to monitor progress as residents should not be expected to endure any further delays after the length of time they have already waited.”
