WEST Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has secured action for residents living near Edge Hill University.
Rosie Cooper won assurances from highways chiefs that they are looking at a range of options for St Helens Road, Ormskirk, including providing ‘H-bar’ road markings across residents’ driveways to stop them from being blocked in.
Rosie said: “The problem on St Helens Road is a lot to do with the fact that there isn’t enough parking provision on the Edge Hill campus which means that people are parking on the main road. While many people park responsibly there are a few who have inconsiderately blocked driveways.
“As well as the ‘H-bar’ markings across the drives, Lancashire County Council informs me that they are also looking at other measures such as parking restrictions so hopefully the situation will start to improve soon.
“The County Council assures me that they are very sensitive to the problems faced by locals and are committed to making improvements as quickly as possible.
“I shall also be writing to the police to ensure that the new regulations, once they are in place, are observed by motorists. “
