West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said:
“I have been contacted in the past by residents concerned about the dangerous junction between Heskin Lane and Marians Drive.
I was advised earlier in the year that some highway maintenance measures were to be carried out to mitigate problems, such as the repainting of road markings and the positioning of a junction warning sign in advance of Marians Lane. However, given the weekend’s events, Lancashire County Council are going to have to have a long, hard look at this.
“I understand there to have been five accidents in a very short space of time on Sunday and, whilst road safety issues have been heightened by the extremely cold weather, I will be contacting Lancashire County Council as a matter of urgency.”
