07/08/08 ‘Remove anti-Islamic graffiti’ demands MP Rosie

WEST Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper is demanding the complete removal of offensive graffiti on a building in Skelmersdale.

MP Rosie Cooper surveys the graffiti at the junction of Inglewhite and Northway in Birch Green, Skelmersdale Rosie has called on National Grid to blitz the building on the Inglewhite/Northway junction in Birch Green following complaints from residents.

The anti-Islamic graffiti, which contained an expletive, was partially removed earlier this year, but Rosie wants National Grid to “finish the job off properly.”

Rosie explained: “It looks a complete mess.

“What has happened is that the graffiti contained an obscenity, so the contractors went out, removed the swear word but left the rest of the graffiti there! It beggars belief – you’d have thought they would have had the sense to get rid of the whole lot of it.

“The graffiti is in a very prominent position just off Northway and it is an eyesore not only for people living on Inglewhite, but also for the thousands who use that road every week.

“I have spoken to representatives from National Grid who have promised me that it will be removed.”

UPDATE:The offending graffiti has now been moved.
