Rosie Cooper MP has welcomed the launch of the new ‘Two Together’ railcard, aimed at increasing passenger use of the railways.
The scheme works by providing a 1/3 discount to two adults travelling at any time, aside from peak times Monday to Friday, and will only cost £30.00 per year for two named people travelling together. The railcard can be used for standard and first class tickets. Railcard holders can save on average £148.00 per year.
MP Rosie said:
“The announcement of this railcard is great news for families where the kids have a young person’s railcard or couple who enjoy trips and weekends away. Being able to save a third on ticket prices will offer a noticeable saving.
“This railcard would offer even better value for money for West Lancashire residents if we had a new service into Skelmersdale or upgraded services on the Ormskirk to Preston and Southport to Manchester services.”
