West Lancashire MP, Rosie Cooper is encouraging all mums to be in West Lancashire to claim their £190 ‘Health in Pregnancy Grant.’
From April 2009 the Government is making a tax-free payment to women who are at least 25 weeks pregnant.
The grant will be a one-off payment for each pregnancy. It won’t make any difference to tax credits or any other benefits and every mum in West Lancashire will get the same amount. The payment will go directly into bank or building society accounts.
MP Rosie said:
“Having a baby is an exciting time for mums and their families. As the former Chair of Liverpool Women’s Hospital I have met many families joyfully looking forward to the birth of their new child. Whether it’s your first time or you’re having another child there is lots to do before the baby arrives which ranges from eating healthily to getting a new pushchair and nappies."
“To get the grant mums will need to get a claim form from their midwife or doctor. So I would urge mums to do this as soon as possible."
“This cash boost will make a real difference to families in West Lancashire.”
To claim the grant mums-to-be will need to get a claim form from their midwife or doctor. Make sure your midwife or doctor fills in their part of the form and signs it before giving it back. The form then needs to be sent back within 31 days of the doctor or midwife signing the form.
