From the 3rd September 2012, Arriva will be making some changes to the way buses operate in the Skelmersdale area.
As part of on-going monitoring of our services and commitment to improve reliability, Arriva introduced a service regulator in the Skelmersdale area to supervise services and address any problems. We have identified a reliability issue with the 395 service – which, due to the route it currently operates, often runs behind schedule and inconveniences our customers. To address this issue and make improvements across the entire Skelmersdale network, the 395 service will no longer serve Tanhouse. The remainder of the route will remain unchanged, continuing to provide a link between Ormskirk and Wigan via Skelmersdale.
From the 3rd of September, Tanhouse will be served by the re-routed local service 312, providing a direct link from Tanhouse to the Asda Superstore. As this is a local service, customers from Tanhouse wishing to travel through to Wigan or Ormskirk will be required to change at the Concourse to board a connecting service.

We believe that making these changes will improve reliability on the 395 service, while at the same time continuing to provide our customers in Tanhouse with a vital link to the bus network.”

“Many residents in Skelmersdale rely on local bus services to go about their daily lives. Ensuring residents have access to these services has always been a priority for me. Having met with Arriva to discuss these service changes I would like to reassure Tanhouse residents in particular that they will still have a bus service that takes them to the town centre. It is just that this service will now have a different number. Arriva are aware of the need to maintain the reliability and the quality of their services for the residents of Skelmersdale. I will continue to work with the company to ensure that local residents do have the best possible bus services.”
