West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has called upon West Lancashire Borough Council to clean up the disgusting mess after leaving dog waste bins in Beacon Country Park unemptied for days.
Responsible dog owners have been cleaning up after their pets only to find the waste bins in Beacon Country Park overflowing and out of use.
Rosie has written to West Lancashire Borough Council urging them to take action to deal with the mess.
MP Rosie said: “West Lancashire Borough Council’s website states ‘there is no excuse not to clean up after your dog’ and that they ‘take a hard line against offenders.’
“It seems the Borough Council is falling foul of its own instructions by leaving dog waste bins overflowing for days on end.
“During the summer months, thousands of dog owners across West Lancashire head out into our local parks to take their dogs for a walk and it is the Borough Council’s responsibility to ensure bins can be used and are not overflowing.
“Overflowing dog waste is unsightly and unhygienic and I urge West Lancashire Borough Council to take swift action to clean up this problem. Is this what it has come to? What a disgrace!”
