Rosie Cooper MP

Working hard for the people of West Lancashire

Rosie Cooper MP said on the issue of flooding:

“Over the past few weeks I have been contacted by a number of constituents experiencing flooding problems. I have seen the damage it causes and the great distress people experience because of flooding. I am aware that residents have been affected by these problems for many years. Not knowing from one year to the next if the floods will happen again.”

“I have been in contact with Burscough’s Flood Pressure Group and will be working closely with them along with Labour Councillor Cynthia Dereli and Labour Parish Councillor Kate Anderson to support the group in attempting to resolve the problems in all those areas of Burscough that experience flooding.”

“Flooding is an issue affecting an increasing number of families in Burscough and other parts of the area. We must do all we can to ensure the potential for flooding is tackled. People cannot and should not have to put up with this situation.”

“I will be speaking to all the relevant authorities, in particular United Utilities, about this situation. There needs to be clarification as to where responsibility lies we cannot just leave residents on their own to deal with any such flooding problems when they occur.”
