Agreement has been reached that 200 cases which would have gone to BUPA will now be carried out at Ormskirk hospital by NHS employees. This activity will bring much needed income to the hospital without the need to involve BUPA.
"This is really good news for the Southport and Ormskirk Hospital Trust which has had a difficult time. We have fought off merger with Liverpool Hospitals and have been resolving the problems of the large historical debt and increasing in year debts. The hospital is now on its way to becoming debt-free."
"We had to go through the pain to show that we were serious about ensuring the hospital had a sound future. I believe the hospital trust is turning the corner. In the past few months the Government has agreed to write off £14 million’s worth of the historic debt and the recovery plan is in place."
"This announcement is the next step in reinforcing and strengthening NHS health services in West Lancashire. In a time of patient choice we now need to promote the trust, ensuring we attract patients to one of the cleanest, safest and best hospitals in the North West. From now on our moto has to be choose Ormskirk”
