WEST Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has welcomed Network Rail’s plans to look at the possibility of building a railway station in Skelmersdale.
Rosie has been working hard to improve public transport, and it has been one of her main priorities in the last three years.
West Lancashire faces a number of challenges to improve the quality of, and access to, public transport.
Rosie said: "It is good news that Network Rail are talking about a railway station for Skelmersdale. I campaigned for this, raising the issue with ministers and Merseyrail. I will work with Network Rail and Government to turn it into reality.
"Meanwhile West Lancashire and the authorities should ensure they are working with Network Rail during the Skelmersdale Town Centre redevelopment to ensure the railway station is part of it.
"I will continue to campaign for the Skelmersdale rail connection along with the Ormskirk bypass and the Burscough curves. We need to get West Lancs moving."
