WEST Lancashire Labour MP Rosie Cooper is urging everyone in the district to roar on cup heroes Skelmersdale United to a famous victory.
The Ashley Travel Stadium outfit booked their place in the final of the UniBond League Challenge Cup after beating Gateshead on penalties on March 8.
In doing so, they became the lowest ranked club to get to the final in 13 years.
Following their success, Rosie visited their ground on Stanley Industrial Estate last Saturday to personally congratulate manager Tommy Lawson and his team, telling them "the whole of West Lancs is immensely proud of you."
She's now issued a rallying cry to ensure everyone gets behind them when they face Eastwood Town in the final at Hyde United's ground next month.
Rosie said: "I'm delighted at Skem's success on the pitch and how much they have developed as a club in recent years, with a fantastic stadium and a playing surface of Premier League quality.
"We all know how much of a football-mad town Skelmersdale is, and this is a chance to show it. I am really encouraging everyone to make a date in their diary, get down to Hyde and roar the boys on to what we all hope will be a famous victory.
"I can't wait for them to bring the silverware home."
Manager Tommy Lawson said: "It was great to meet Rosie and we appreciate her support ahead of what will be a great occasion for everyone associated not just the club, but Skelmersdale and West Lancashire sport as a whole."
