West Lancashire residents will have noticed damaged bus shelters un-repaired or being removed.
Residents are now being forced to stand in the wind and rain with nowhere to shelter in some cases waiting for their bus thanks to the Conservative-run West Lancashire Borough Council.
The Conservative-run Borough Council has been slashing its budget with cuts affecting frontline services, including bus shelters.
Labour MP Rosie Cooper said:
“This will save £32,000, yet the Council spent £700,000 on refurbishing Council offices. So many local residents rely on bus services to get about – to work, school, shopping or visiting friends and family.”
“This just shows how little this Council actually cares about local residents. They are prepared to let them get soaked, frozen and wind-swept. What about older people or families with young children?”
“We need to be vigilant and stop any damage to bus shelters before they are all removed. Don’t give the Council an excuse to remove your bus stop.”
