12/12/07 Rosie Cooper MP clarifies maintenance issues at St Pauls churchyard, Skelmersdale

Rosie Cooper MP & Councillor Doreen Saxon

Rosie Cooper MP has received an assurance from Street Scene Manager Graham Concannon that the maintenance of adjoining land next to St Paul’s Churchyard, Skelmersdale is the responsibility of West Lancashire District Council.

In response to an earlier enquiry WLDC had assumed that because the adjoining land was not included on the Grounds Maintenance Contract for regular maintenance it was not their responsibility. In his most recent letter Mr Concannon apologised for the error made and indicated that it will be maintained as a natural rather than cultivated area.

Rosie said: “I am pleased that the maintenance of this churchyard has now been resolved. I would hope that the appearance of the churchyard is improved soon so that relatives and families who visit are not troubled by overgrowing brambles.”
