13/01/09 MP Rosie comments on her upcoming visit to the US for t

Rosie said: "I believe the inauguration of President Kennedy was the last time the US and the world were so enthralled by a new President."

"It is expected that 240,000 will gather in the Capital grounds to witness what is in so many ways an historic event.

"The chance to be at the inauguration of President Obama is truly a once in a lifetime experience. I feel a real sense of anticipation and excitement about the visit. I feel enormously privileged to have this opportunity."

"There is enormous expectation of what President Obama will change and achieve as the new President. His campaign really got people engaged in politics again or for the first time in many cases."

"We all remember the pictures on the TV and in the newspapers of election night. The tens of thousands of people who made their way to Grant Park on election night to hear the new President. The crowds of young people out in the streets celebrating his victory. I expect to see the same again only this time in person."
