13/11/09 Rosie opposes Tory plans to repeal Hunting Act

West Lancashire MP, Rosie Cooper has expressed serious concerns about the Conservative plans to repeal the hunting ban that could see the return of the Waterloo cup.

In 2005 Rosie joined the protest march against the Waterloo Cup, which takes place on the plains in Great Altcar.

Rosie Cooper MP said: “In recent weeks David Cameron and the Conservative Party have made it absolutely clear they would make it a priority to overturn the ban on hunting with dogs and they will use Government time to abolish the ban.

“This is just the same old Tories and its clear their priorities have not changed.

“I am proud that the Labour Government has banned hunting with dogs, and I will continue campaigning alongside animal welfare organisations against the Tories’ proposed reintroduction of this cruel practice.”
