West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said:
"We are now seeing the true impact of the savage cuts of this Conservative-led Government despite all their promises that frontline services would not be hit.
"I absolutely oppose these proposals as they are not in the best interests of West Lancashire residents and I will be making my views known loud and clear as part of this consultation. I would urge all local residents to do the same.
"What I expect is we will hear very vocal opposition from the Conservative-run Borough and County Council's but no action after all it is their own Conservative Government doing this to us.
"Cuts in the number of police officers; an uncertain future for PCSOs; and a reducing police presence in our towns and villages. My great fear is that we will start to see crime rise here in West Lancashire. That shouldn't bother David Cameron as he gets to sleep protected behind an iron gate guarded by police officers.
"What we have is a Conservative-led Government that says it is tough on crime but the reality is it is tough on the people fighting crime. The very people we rely on to keep us safe and protect us from crime.
