“I have been contacted by quite a number of West Lancashire residents, including the local Alzheimer’s Society branch, about what drugs will be made available to Alzheimer’s Disease patients. Clearly people are worried that their loved ones will not receive the treatment they need.
“It is evident that the campaigning and lobbying so far has had some impact. Initially the National Institute for Clinical Excellence decided not to recommend any drugs. It has now revised that decision but there are many people who still do not think this goes far enough.”
I have written writing to the Secretary of State for Health on this issue to express the deeply held concerns of West Lancashire constituents and to ask what more can be done for Alzheimer’s Disease patients.”
