ROSIE Cooper MP has demanded answers from water chiefs over long-running road works in Aughton.
The West Lancashire MP is furious that Prescot Road is due to be closed until the end of September at least because of works being carried out by United Utilities.
The project has been hit by a number of delays, some of them due to the nature of the location with it being in a semi-rural area.
The company has now apologised for the delay and have reassured Rosie that they are working hard to get the road open as soon as possible.
Rosie said: “Local residents have contacted me because they are so angry about the length of time these road works are taking.
“The resulting the diversions are causing problems for people living all around that area, on Parrs Lane, Long Lane etc. We now have large, heavy vehicles using roads that were never built for that level of traffic.
“United Utilities have told me that they are working with their contractors to ensure that the road works are finished as soon as possible.
“I’m keeping an eye on the situation because, quite frankly, local residents are at the end of their tether and UU need to get their act together and complete the works quickly.”
