West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper is calling for a rethink on West Lancashire Borough Council’s policy on collecting waste from local schools.
At present the Council refuses to collect the recyclable waste from local schools.
Members of Lordsgate Primary School’s Eco Council wrote to their MP asking for help in getting the council to support the recycling efforts of our local schools.
MP Rosie said:
“As the school children pointed out, young people are constantly told of the importance of recycling and protecting the environment. The school has bought recycling bins and collect the recycling every Friday from classrooms and school grounds.
“All the pupils want is for their local council to support their efforts and help with collection. I believe it’s about time the council thought again about its position on this issue.
“They need to think about the message they are sending to local children.
“I’m sure thanks to this project in school many children are now pushing their families to be more conscientious in recycling waste at home.
“These children are looking to the Borough Council to change its policy so in their words they ‘can be encouraged to recycle more and provide a better future for us all’.”
