West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said:
“I know high fuel prices are hitting people hard and they are doing so at a time when families, pensioners and businesses are already being squeezed by higher food prices and rising gas and electricity bills, especially in semi rural West Lancashire where the transport infrastructure and services are very poor and distances great.
“I am calling on the Conservative-led Government to take action now by reversing January’s VAT increase, which would cut 3p a litre off the price of petrol at the pump. The Government also needs to find a way to ensure that falls in oil process are passed on to consumers. By taking this action they can begin to ease this burden on families, support businesses and get the economy moving again.”
