16/06/08 MP steps in over Ormskirk Business Park site complaints

WEST Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has intervened following concerns over a new retail park in Ormskirk.

Rosie Cooper MP has campaigned on behalf of residents on Old Boundary Way whose homes overlook the new retail park in Ormskirk

Residents in Old Boundary Way are unhappy at the untidiness of the part of the old Hattersley’s site which backs onto their road.

The old foundry site, off Burscough Road, is being redeveloped into a business and retail park.

But the Labour MP has now had assurances from West Lancashire District Council’s planning boss, Steve Byron, that the area will be landscaped as soon as possible.

An officer from the council has also met concerned residents to discuss their issues.

Rosie said: “After being contacted by residents, I went down to Old Boundary Way to see the problem for myself.

“There was litter all over the place and was creating a massive eyesore for the residents.

“I am pleased that the matter will be resolved soon because it is unacceptable for residents to have to put up with that, as well as having to cope with all the things which living in the shadow of such a large development bring.”
