West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper can confirm that any rumours of the closure of Little Digmoor Primary School are completely false.
Rosie contacted the Chief Executive of the County Council after local residents reported hearing that the school was facing closure. The County Council confirmed to Rosie that they are “not aware of any plans or proposals to close or amalgamate this school” and confirmed that there are “no current proposals” to review a decision made in 2001 to keep the school open following a review of provision.
“I am delighted to have this matter cleared up. Little Digmoor Primary School provides high quality education to 91 local children and is also a vital community resource. It is unfair to school children and parents to hear rumours that their school might be closing and it causes unrest and uncertainty in the community. I will be working with the County Council to identify where these rumours started and I hope that the assurances I have received from the County Council will reassure parents of children at the school and users of the community facilities that there are no plans to close it.”
