West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper is warning residents who’ve made payments to One Connect Limited with a Royal Bank of Scotland debit card may have been overcharged. Rosie is encouraging all residents to check their bank accounts to check.
It has been brought to Rosie’s attention that people using Royal Bank of Scotland debit cards to make payments through One Connect Limited are being charged an extra 1.56% on top of their bill. This is the amount people are normally charged if they pay with a credit card. There has been a technical problem that is recognising RBS debit cards as a credit card. The charge is being automatically incurred.
If people have paid using the Automated Telephone Payment system or paid online via the web there is no way for One Connect Limited to check if they have been overcharged.

“I would encourage anyone who has made a payment through One Connect Limited to West Lancashire Borough Council to check their bank account or their statement. If you discover that you have been overcharged then please contact my office on 01695 570094 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. I will ensure that every case is raised with One Connect Limited and a reimbursement is arranged.
“We know what banks are like if people go into or over their overdraft limit. They start incurring charges. It would be deeply unfair if this happened to anyone through no fault of their own.”
