West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper joined Subpostmaster John Eminson to officially open Halsall Post Office on Thursday 15 December 2011 in its new home at Halsall Pharmacy, Village Hall, Halsall, Ormskirk, L39 8RW.
The branch had been closed since February this year following the resignation of the subpostmaster. It opened as a new Hosted Outreach service at Halsall Pharmacy in September.
Post Office Field Change Advisor Andy Wright said: “Since the branch closed temporarily we have been working hard to restore Post Office services to this area and I am pleased that we were able to reopen the branch as an outreach service within Halsall Pharmacy.
West Lancashire MP Rosie Copper said: “I am delighted that Post Office services have returned to Halsall. Too often we see villages loosing key resources and services that are vital to our communities.
I would encourage all Halsall residents to use the Post Office and give it their full support. I wish John and the Post Office team all the success in the future.”
Subpostmaster John Eminson who also runs Burscough Bridge Post Office and Rufford and Bescar outreach services said: “The Post Office is a key part of our community and the opening of this new hosted outreach service is really important to the residents in Halsall. The initial feedback has been excellent. Footfall is increasing all the time and with the wide range of facilities available I am confident that the service will go from strength to strength.”
The new outreach service operates on Mondays and Thursdays between 2pm and 5pm and offers a range of Post Office services including car tax, postage, foreign currency, bill payments, mobile phone top-ups and cash withdrawals. Many banks, including Barclays, Lloyds TSB, NatWest RBS and the Co-operative Bank offer access to their bank accounts through the Post Office so customers can take money out and pay in at a Post Office outreach service.
