Rosie Cooper MP

Working hard for the people of West Lancashire

20/03/06 MP Rosie comments on SHA

Rosie Cooper MP said:

“It is outrageous that the SHA should try to hide behind such weasel words. We all know that a merger was actively considered. If this was their position then why didn’t the SHA make an announcement four months ago when I initially brought their discussions to light and why over the months have they been meeting with MPs to discuss this issue? Why was £560,000 of public money spent on a management consultants report? A consultants report that now says there is no need for merger. The actions of the SHA appear to contradict their words.”

“Now there is no need for mergers we must work constructively and collaboratively to find a way forward to ensure the people of West Lancashire are able to access health services locally and that we find long term solutions to the challenges facing Southport and Ormskirk Hospital Trust.”
