“I’m saddened that West Lancs Borough Council have decided to save money by cutting posts instead of curbing wasteful spending on vanity projects such as forking out a massive £600,000 to demolish just four homes to make way for their new multi-million pound Town Hall. The priority of the council should be providing real help for local people and that doesn’t include making people redundant. They should be investing their huge reserves not cutting back at this difficult time. Local people and council staff want to know that their priorities are the council's priorities. I am not sure they believe this to be the case, judging by this decision."
“My priority is to support local people and businesses and keep people in their jobs and I will continue working with Government Ministers and other partners to provide advice and support to local residents and businesses on getting through this global economic downturn.”
