West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said in response to the severe budget cuts from Lancashire County Council:
“We all accept that savings need to be made but I absolutely reject the focus of the service CUTS and the people that this budget will affect. I do not believe it is fair or equitable. If this is what the Conservative’s call sharing the pain, then I believe the message from West Lancashire residents will be ‘no thanks’.
“With the target of cutting £179 million over three years, there is no doubt that vital frontline services which West Lancashire residents rely on everyday will be severely affected, including people with disabilities, the elderly requiring care and children with special educational needs. These are some of the most vulnerable people in our communities, yet it would appear that those most in need of support will bear the brunt of these budget decisions.
