“My position on Whitemoss has been clear and consistant since I visited the site back in 2005. I support the objections of West Lancashire residents who have regularly complained about the site. I objected strongly to the extension narrowly granted in 2006.
“I accept the guarantees that only hazardous waste will be dumped at the site. However, residents remain seriously concerned about the long term health effects of the hazardous materials being dumped at this site and they strongly object to any extension. Sadly, residents have lost confidence in the Environment Agency to protect them.
“I will continue to stand by the residents of Whitemoss and the residents of Burscough, Skelmersdale, Simonswood and Great Altcar where new waste facilities have been proposed. As their MP it is my duty to make their voices and their concerns heard. Enough is enough!”
