West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has welcomed the news that criminal proceedings have commenced alleging that Personnel Hygiene Services Limited breached health and safety legislation and environmental law following an explosion at the site in Burscough on the 12th October 2010.
MP Rosie said:
“Despite the lengthy investigation I am sure the residents of Lordsgate Lane in Burscough will be delighted to see there will be action taken against the company. Following the incident they were quite rightly concerned for their safety. This announcement brings to an end a long and uncertain wait for local residents.
“We now await the outcome of the court case. However, the fact that this action is being brought should offer local residents some reassurance.”
For the past 18 months, MP Rosie has been pushing the Health and Safety Executive to reach a conclusion in their investigations for the sake of local residents leaving close by to the site where the explosion happened.
