West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has previously called on Southport & Ormskirk NHS Hospital Trust to review their car parking management arrangements.
In May 2013, Rosie highlighted the significant increase in complaints over the issuing of parking fines.
Responding to the announced changes, MP Rosie said:
“Ideally, I wish there were no parking charges at all on hospital car parks. However, I do welcome this announcement to reduce the cost of the fines. It is encouraging that the hospital management and the Trust Board members are listening to the concerns of patients and their families.
“Back in May I called for the hospital to strike a more sensible balance between properly managing the car park and being more considerate of the public and patients using the car park, especially in times of emergency.”
