Rosie Cooper MP

Working hard for the people of West Lancashire

24/02/09 Rosie comments of the provision and funding of maternit

MP Rosie said:

"The Tory candidate has come to the party a little late on maternity services. I have been working with Southport and Ormskirk Hospital Trust on this issue and have publicly welcomed their proposals to increase maternity capacity previously."

"I would suggest that he reads the Department of Health website before he starts attacking the Government in a weak effort to score political points."

"I want to see maternity services at Southport and Ormskirk Hospital to continue to grow and develop. I will continue to work hard to ensure that mums in West Lancashire have the very best facilities and services possible."

“All PCTs have received into their baseline budgets funding relating to Maternity Matters. The payments by results tariff has been increased by 7%, which equates to £20 million. The guidance confirms that the other elements of the Maternity Matters funding are not included within the tariff so the local health authorities can use this money for increases in activity."
