Working hard for the people of West Lancashire

24/02/14 - Rosie Cooper MP takes a look at the revamped Burscoug

West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper visited the new look, refurbished Burscough Bridge Post Office where she met sub-postmasters John and Anne Eminson.

Following investment this ‘new main style branch’ post office offers the same service but is now open for longer on Saturdays, until 5:30pm rather than 1:00pm. A new free-to-use ATM machine has also been installed, which complements the range of other banking services on offer at the branch.

Customers who use these services will be pleased that the Post Office also now includes a private discussion area.

Beyond these service changes, the Post Office now stocks an extended range of greeting cards, stationery and toys.

Following her visit MP Rosie Cooper said:
“My thanks to John and Anne for the warm welcome to the new look post office that is at the heart of the village here in Burscough.

“I know how they are always pushing to improve local post office services to better meet their customers’ needs. Not just here in Burscough but in Halsall and Bescar as well.

“I’m sure the post office customers like the new set-up.

“Post Offices are a vital part of community life, especially in our villages and more rural areas. To keep pace with customers’ needs we need to see more investment in our Post Office network.”

John and Anne Eminson who run Burscough Bridge Post Office said:

“We are delighted with the revamp. It has created a more modern and spacious environment. The feedback from our customers has been great. The private area enables customers to talk about products and services with improved confidentiality.

“With regard to the installation of the ATM, many of our customers said they wanted free access to their cash 24 hours a day. We listened and acted and are delighted to have had the cash machine installed at the same time as the refurbishment took place.

“As we see increased pressure on retail businesses on the high street, we believe that by modernising and offering improved products and services Burscough Bridge Post Office will continue to have a role to play in the village giving our customers enhanced choices and convenience.”
