Rosie Cooper MP

Working hard for the people of West Lancashire

25/08/05 Rosie comments on A&E services in West Lancashire

In response to the recent press reports on the future of Accident and Emergency units, in which Ormskirk Hospital was mentioned, Rosie Cooper MP said:

“The overriding priority in delivering health services must always be patient safety. The second priority is achieving the best possible services to meet the needs of local people. These are the guarantees that I seek from the health service for the people of West Lancashire. Modern medicine means tough decisions have to be taken."

"We must make the best use of resources and personnel available to the NHS. The goal is to have a range of services locally that can meet the vastly different needs of patients. Not everybody who uses Accident and Emergency necessarily needs those services. It is really about being smarter in how we deliver health services today.”
