West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper had the privilege of meeting the Dalai Lama in Parliament as His Holiness gave an address to Parliamentarians on Wednesday 20th June on International Development.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama is the spiritual leader of the Tibetan people. He has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for non-violent struggle for the liberation of Tibet. His address to Parliament is part of a series on Parliamentarians Ending Poverty.
MP Rosie Cooper said:
“It was a great honour and privilege to have what is a once in a lifetime opportunity to hear from and meet His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He is the embodiment of someone who has a set of values and lives by those values, not simply preaches them. A man, who has dedicated his life in the service of the Tibetan people leading their cause for liberation.
“His Holiness talked about the importance of education and the need to have food for the mind as well as the body. He talked about how we achieve happiness through contentment not through material possessions. As a spiritual leader the Dalai Lama also touched on religion and the need for us to respect all religions and to have faith in yours.”
