West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has slammed Merseyside health chiefs for holding a meeting with MPs from Greater Merseyside about the reconfiguration of health services, which they fully acknowledged would have an impact on Southport and Ormskirk NHS Hospital Trust. Yet they failed to invite MP Rosie to the meeting. Is it because they knew she would fight them, as she has done before to ensure we keep our local hospital?
MP Rosie has written to the health bosses for NHS England demanding to know if there's a secret master plan to prop up Liverpool hospitals and if this is a sign of things to come under the new health regime.
Responding to this situation MP Rosie said:
“It seems that Merseyside health bosses have their eyes on our hospital once again. I have a very clear message for them – HANDS OFF OUR HOSPITAL.
“Clearly the recent scandals in the NHS seem to have taught health bureaucrats nothing. Doing deals in dark corners over the future of taxpayer funded health services is not acceptable.
“The only acceptable solution for me and the people of West Lancashire is for Southport and Ormskirk NHS Hospital Trust to be a fully functioning Foundation Trust Hospital. This will require the Hospital Board members to ensure hospital services are delivered efficiently and effectively to make this happen.
“Health services should be patient-centred, not the easy option for the health managers. There are serious financial pressures in Health Services and the Government wasting more than £3bn on reorganisation has only made things significantly worse.
“I want to be absolutely clear: it is time for the health bosses to come clean.”
