Working hard for the people of West Lancashire

26/10/11 - Rosie Cooper MP calls on police to save future of Orm

Following the news that Aughton police post could still have a future, West Lancashire MP, Rosie Cooper is calling on Chief Superintendent Stuart Williams to guarantee the future of frontdesk services at Ormskirk Police Station and the others threatened within West Lancashire.

West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said:

“The message from the people of Ormskirk and surrounding areas is loud and clear.  They want to keep the frontdesk at Ormskirk police station open.  Residents don’t want to be making a 25 round trip to the nearest police frontdesk in West Lancashire.

“It is great news if Aughton is to have a neighbourhood policing base.  I believe that it is vitally important to support these neighbourhood bases by having frontdesk services within this end of West Lancashire.

“For one of the main towns in West Lancashire not to have these vital public services would be a severe blow.  However, if Lancashire police are listening strength of feeling from the local residents and the MP then the only option is to keep Ormskirk police station open.”

Rosie has been campaigning with local residents to make it clear to Lancashire Police that it is vital for the public to continue to have access to the frontdesk at Ormskirk police station.
